Delores Jean  Hicks (Ray)
Delores Jean Hicks was born in Ennis, Texas on October 29, 1934. She entered Heaven’s gates on June 15, 2017.

Delores had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member First Baptist Pasadena in Pasadena, Texas. A past member of Candor Baptist Church, she was very involved assisted with numerous events.

Delores served in the United States Army as a nurse for four years. She went on to continue her nursing career in various Houston area hospitals for 25 plus years. After retirement, she moved to North Carolina with her loving husband, Calvin Hicks, she opened her day care and became known as Granny D. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star and the Mason organizations.

Delores was greeted in heaven by her loving husband of 26 years, Calvin L. Hicks and by her daughter Denise Roby, step-son Harry Hicks, grandson Troy Edward, great-granddaughter Victoria Lori, her sister, Diris Hicks and her parents Andrew and Bertha Ray. Delores is survived by her daughter, Sue Tullock of Houston, Texas, son Kenneth Smart and his wife Joan of Hopewell, Virginia and daughter Ann Brubaker of Kannapolis, NC, Step-children Ina Pullock and Doug Hicks, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. And adopted through love Sharon, husband Donny, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Candor Baptist Church, Candor, NC.
